This was a surprise result, with 11th-placed Alton beating fourth-placed Trojans on their own pitch.
With a few tweaks to their formation, Alton set out in the first half fairly well matched up against the opposition.
Alton found their form quickly and their system allowed them to apply consistent pressure in Trojans’ half.
Following several great one-on-ones by Maya Morrison and Gayle Moir, Rachael Clark found her way into the circle, facing only the keeper, and a powerful strike on target glanced off the keeper’s pads and into the net.
After the break, confident Alton spent most of the period in the opposition’s half.
Trojans fought back and won several penalty corners in the last 15 minutes, but could not equalise.
